If anyone knows ANYONE who needs a place to live starting in September (in College Park, MD/Berwyn Heights, MD), and can pay $470/month, plus a $470 security deposit, let me know ASAP.
I need a 6th and final roommate in my house, and we're supposed to sign the lease and give the security deposit within the week. I'm one person short, so $470 short.
Who can help me out? I've tapped out all my resources.

Anyone interested in going to the DCI competition in Allentown August 4-5? I know I'll be there on the 5th, since it doesn't conflict with work and my cousin marches with Seattle Cascades. I haven't decided about the 4th, since I usually don't get out of work until 6 and it starts at 6:30.

I just wanted to say that I had an awesome time in marching band and I wanted to thank you guys for convincing me to try it out.
I don't know if I'm coming back next year because of some health issues - but I'm really glad I did it this year and I hope I can come back next year.

Underarmour shirts, part II (for the ladies in the band)
I went to Sports Authority this evening to try on the UnderArmour shirt (#0084
). I tried on the small. I'd say the men's small for this style fits like a women's XL t-shirt. It's about the same size as the free XL t-shirts we get so often on campus-- it's a little smaller than those. Just for reference, I normally wear a small shirt size in women's petites. So the UnderArmour men's small of style 0084 is huge on me. I think I'll see if I can just buy my own women's shirt, and pay the extra money for it. I cannot fathom spending $14 on one oversized t-shirt, much less $28 on two.
I recommend trying on this shirt before buying it. For those in the College Park area, there is a Sports Authority in Rockville-- the one in Greenbelt is closed. Current Mood: frustrated

5' 7", 120 lbs, 34-27-33 (i
the chances of me, freshman arts scholar, getting a
roommate who is also in marching band, are very small, right? ::crosses
fingers:: ::it would be neat to have a single room for a week::
while i'm at it, what's a good number of credits to take, including marching
band? I have 16 so far.

Wow, you guys are intense, thanks for all the info.
I don't think I'll end up joining the marching band - I don't want to drive myself crazy my first year. But what are other bands at UMD like? Is there a pep band for winter sports? Can I join a jazz band if I'm not that good? I've been playing the saxophone since the third grade and I can play decently but I'm definitely not going to be a music major.
I really don't want to just give up my music. Thanks again, guys.

I'm going to be a freshman. I've been in my high school marching band for four years and the jazz band as well. What's the UMD marching band like? I'm thinking about getting involved. What about any non-marching bands? I play the tuba (marching band) and the saxophone (jazz band) and I'd really like to continue but I'm not sure I can committ to marching or not.

Sigma Alpha Iota is doing an instrument drive to help Carole Highlands Elementary and Ridgecrest Elementary. The idea is to help students who want to be in band but neither they nor their school can afford to buy or rent instruments. So, if you or someone you know has an extra/spare instrument, please let me or any SAI member know. Donations are tax-deductible; we have receipts for your records. For more info, visit www.sai-ge.org, or feel free to ask. Thanks!

Anyone think we're going to make it to a bowl game this year? Even a crappy one? I know we can't say for sure yet, but I need to know any estimates people have. I want to go to the ΑΦΩ national convention in Denver from Dec 27-30, but I don't want to pay for plane tickets, a room, and registration only to find out I can't go. On the other side of the coin, if I wait too late, I'm gonna pay out the ass for airfare. It's a once-every-two-years kinda thing, but bowl games are not exactly every day either. Any projections?
